DALLAS The Dallas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators has named Jerry Stevenson its 2004 Communicator of the Year, the organization said.
Stevenson, president of Dallas-based Stevenson Consulting, was honored at the association's annual Bronze Quill Awards gala held earlier this month. The COTY award recognizes those practitioners who put a keen emphasis on service to IABC and the communications profession.
Other COTY finalists included Carol Barreyre, communications consultant at Carol Barreyre Communications in McKinney, Texas, and Gayle Goodman Lynch, public relations project manager at Centex Corp. of Dallas.
In addition, the Dallas IABC honored Stevenson and Roy Miller with its annual Pegasus Award for outstanding achievement and voluntarism within the chapter. Miller, vice president of public relations at The TransSynergy Group in Dallas, also serves as the organization's director of communications.
"Jerry and Roy are the 'yin' and the 'yang' of the chapter," said Pat Chamberlain, Dallas IABC president. "Together, they make remarkable strides in promoting the chapter both locally and internationally with their team of volunteers."
The Dallas IABC, which has more than 300 members, has bestowed the COTY award every year since 1953.
