LOS ANGELES-Crispin Porter & Bogusky is the lone East Coast shop left vying for Imandi.com, an Internet shopping service founded by two former Microsoft executives.
The Miami agency is one of four finalists competing for the estimated $20-25 million account. The others are: Cole & Weber, Seattle; Dailey & Associates, West Hollywood, Calif.; and Moses Anshell, Phoenix.
Shops are prepping final presentations and strategic exercises. The winner will handle on- and offline ads for the Redmond, Wash., firm. Blake Park, client vice president of marketing, is leading the search. A decision is expected this week.
Imandi.com calls itself the first "reverse marketplace" for Internet shoppers. Customers log on to www.imandi.com and complete a form outlining the goods they need. The Web site then connects them with local and national merchants. The company's name is derived from the Hindu word "mandi," meaning bazaar or marketplace.
All of the finalists have experience with Internet clients, but are also known as brand builders for bricks-and-mortar marketers.
"They came to us for our branding expertise," said CP&B president Jeff Hicks. "We've had a lot of experience building revolutionary brands-And 1 [sneakers], the "Truth' campaign, Bankrate.com, PlanetOutdoors-brands that move from zero to 95 percent awareness in a weekend."
Dailey's clients include Nestl , Mondavi wines and Southern California Ford dealers. Cole & Weber's national clients include K2 skis and Tillamook Cheese. Moses Anshell handles the tourism accounts for the state of Arizona and Scottsdale, Ariz., as well as Peter Piper Pizza.
