DALLAS Creative Civilization has launched a 2004 NBA playoff campaign for the San Antonio Spurs, the shop said.
According to the San Antonio Hispanic agency, the "Bring on the world" TV push promotes the Spurs international players: Tony Parker from France, Hedo Turkoglu from Turkey, Manu Ginobili from Argentina, Rasho Nesterovic from Slovenia and Tim Duncan from the Virgin Islands.
The first TV spot opens with a view of the earth rotating in space. As it turns, the camera cuts to scenes of Paris; Istanbul, Turkey; and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where crowds chant, "Go, Spurs, Go!" Against a starry backdrop, onscreen text "Bring on the world" is followed by "Bring on the 2004 playoffs." As the earth continues to turn, the camera zooms in on the SBC Center in San Antonio, where Spur players are dribbling and shooting on the court. As the earth begins spinning again, it suddenly becomes a basketball. The spot ends with the "Go, Spurs, Go!" tagline.
Introduced last week, the campaign's two 30-second TV spots will run in the San Antonio market throughout the NBA playoffs, the shop said. A 60-second version will be played in the SBC Center during the games. The effort also includes print and outdoor components.
Due to a long history with the Spurs, Creative Civilization was awarded the account in 1999 without a review. Overall media spending is "a little greater than seven figures," the agency said.
