DALLAS Don Clampitt, founder and CEO of Clampitt Paper, recently launched the Clampitt Creative Center, a resource destination where creative professionals can meet, create and network, the company said.
Located at Clampitt Paper's Dallas headquarters, the center is the size of a small auditorium divided into distinctive sections. Open on weekdays to the general public, the center features do-it-yourself workstations, a display wall of paper mill samples, a library of industry publications and portfolios of local photographers and illustrators, a conference room and coffee bar.
Clampitt said the center is his solution to a challenging economy where creative professionals, especially freelancers, are often at a loss when it comes to finding resources and contacts.
"Our main goal is to give businesses, designers and freelancers an educational vehicle that can steer them toward more imaginative and compelling printed products," Clampitt said. "We want professionals to come in and sit down with their clients, mull through multiple creative ideas, pull paper samples and produce mock-ups of their ideas right on the spot."
If the Dallas location proves to be successful, Clampitt said he would like to open his next creative center in the Houston market.
Clampitt Paper, founded in 1941, specializes in wholesale paper distribution and has offices in Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Fort Worth, Texas, and Oklahoma City. The company also operates 12 FasClampitt paper stores.
