Centerpost, DiamondCluster to Go the Distance

The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon has tapped Chicago-based mobile services provider Centerpost Corporation and DiamondCluster International to create Marathon Messenger, a mobile messaging service available to runners and spectators.

The 2001 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, to be held on October 7, will be the first marathon with the capability to deliver automated updates on runners' times and breaking news via phone, e-mail, pager or wireless device.

Marathon Messenger is a free service that will be accessible by visiting www.chicagomarathon.com. On race day, participants will receive automated notifications to the communications devices of their choice.

Centerpost provides multi-channel electronic messaging services for companies looking to improve communications with their customers. Centerpost's technology helps companies deliver information to customers via voice and data and wired and wireless platforms. Centerpost clients include United Airlines and Travelocity.com. The company is funded by Motorola, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Portage Venture Partners.
