BOSTON Barney, the bespectacled, bow-tied mascot of Connecticut Bank & Trust, is making a comeback after more than a dozen years via marketing efforts from Mintz & Hoke.

The independent agency in Avon, Conn., has resurrected Barney, last used in 1991, for an outdoor effort that includes signs and flyers in various communities where CBT does business or plans to open a branch.

The effort focuses on customer service. Bright yellow signs feature drawings of Barney and the headline, "Missing. A customer service reward is being offered for information leading to Barney." Consumers are directed to a Web site, www.customerserviceisback.com, for more information.
