Who is the best Web designer in the country?
In order to find out, as well as inspire the nation's new media community to become involved in charity, Boston-based Masters of the Web is holding a one-day competition.
Participants will have 24 hours to design a Web site for the Starbright Foundation, chaired by Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf and entertainment mogul Steven Spielberg.
The foundation supports projects for seriously ill children, including Starbright World, a private, interactive computer network for hospitalized kids. The network allows kids to reach out to their peers and others fighting illness.
In addition to a division open to all, 50 top designers will be invited to compete on Nov. 6 in a so-named "masters" division. The winner will be announced in February at a conference hosted by International Data Group.
Boston-based Trinity Communications is developing pro bono Web and print ads for the contest. Ads will break in August.
