SAN FRANCISCO Online shopping service Cairo.com said it has hired Frank Han as president and CEO from HSN.com.

Han, 42, was general manager of the online division of the Home Shopping Network, a company representative said. At Cairo, based in San Francisco, he will oversee all aspects of the service's local sales shopping and business.

Han has made a career of building e-commerce sites. He was co-founder of e-Toys, then the leading retailer of children's products, where he led development of consumer services and shepherded the company's IPO.

"Frank is a strong leader and strategic thinker with a wealth of experience growing online consumer businesses," said Andy Moss, Cairo.com founder. "He thoroughly understands Cairo's role as a consumer advocate and how to meet the needs of our target audience."

Previously, Han was senior vice president of e-commerce for Caesars Entertainment and vice president of interactive markets for Union Bank of California.

"Frank has been instrumental in taking new online consumer brands and turning them into household names," said David Sze, Cairo.com board member.

Founded in 2003, Cairo.com provides online services that help people save time and money when shopping offline at the local brick and mortar stores of major retail chains, such as K-Mart, Safeway and Best Buy. Cairo's customers log on by ZIP code and register their preferences, then the service searches local merchants for the best price on all kinds of products.
