NEW YORK As a step toward managing its continued growth in billings and staff over the past year, WPP Group's Berlin Cameron/Red Cell has promoted Anthony Bianco from general manager to managing director, the agency said.

In his new role, Bianco is responsible for managing agency costs and supervising the print production and interactive departments.

Bianco, 31, joined Berlin Cameron in 1998 from Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners in New York and became general manager and a partner in 2001. He continues to report to Ewen Cameron, chief executive officer of Berlin Cameron in New York.

In the past year, the agency's New York staff grew from about 80 to 100 employees as the shop added an estimated $500 million in new billings from companies such as Coke Classic, Boost Mobile, Pfizer's Zyrtec and Tasty Baking Company and existing client Pernod Ricard. The latter awarded Berlin Cameron its Glenlivet whiskey account.

"This continues to be an exciting year at the agency as we add new assignments and people," Bianco said in a statement. "As we get bigger, we don't lose sight of the fact that there are always new and more effective ways to serve clients. We are never satisfied with status quo. It's that entrepreneurial spirit that is attractive to clients."

Bianco's ad career began in 1992 at direct marketing shop The Magellan Group.
