BBDO and Stan & Lou Advertising took top honors at the Houston Advertising Federation's Addy awards this past weekend.

BBDO in Houston won best of show in the broadcast category for "You're It," a 30-second television spot for Texaco Xpress Lube. The hilarious vignette shows two me-chanics goofing off in a service station, inanely putting toothpicks up their noses and making lunch boxes "talk." The spot concludes with the tagline, "It's 15-point service ... from people who can count that high."

Stan & Lou was awarded best of show in the print category for a body of work including collateral, magazine and newspaper ads on behalf of client Boaka Bar.

Gold awards went to Rives Carlberg for Reliant Park (trade print), J. Walter Thompson for Texaco (trade campaign) and Demeris Catering (consumer print), and Lopez Negrete for Tyson (non-English print).

In the newspaper category, Rehak Creative Services took gold for EDS (non-English, black-and-white ad), and Rives Carlberg was honored for its Houston Chronicle work (black-and-white campaign).

Bates Southwest was recognized for the local radio campaign it created for Fantastic Sam's, and J. Walter Thompson received the nod for its national Shell spots.

Gold awards were split among two winners in the 30-second, local television category. Taking the top prizes were Marion, Montgomery for its Your Office Source creative and Bates Southwest for its GTE Wireless work.

In regional/national television, gold awards were given in a number of categories. Winners included Texas Video & Post (automotive), Fogarty Klein Monroe (retail), VT/TV Graphics & Post (entertainment), Bates Southwest (communications) and Rives Carlberg (consumer products).
