Baronet Moves On Without Gibbs

Newhouse Assumes Added Creative Chores
DALLAS--GibbsBaronet principal Willie Baronet has begun shuffling management chores as the small Dallas agency adapts to the one-year--and perhaps permanent--absence of partner Steve Gibbs.
Former senior art director and designer Meta Newhouse was elevated to a newly created associate creative director post to fulfill some of Gibbs' previous duties as partner, according to Baronet.
"Steve, like I do, performed lots of roles here," said Baronet. "Part of his role was as co-creative director, so [Newhouse] is going to take over that part of his role. She has valuable experience and a good relationship with our clients and staff."
Additional hires may be required to mete out all of Gibbs' former duties, but Baronet said the move does not mean the partner has permanently left the company. Gibbs took a sabbatical in late April, expressing plans to consider either resuming his role next year or selling his share to Baronet.
Baronet previously stated he will not recruit an outside partner should Gibbs sell his stake in the agency.
Baronet was noncommittal on whether any current employees like Newhouse would be given an opportunity for equity status. "That's something that's not been discussed, and probably wouldn't be right at this moment," he said.
GibbsBaronet clients include the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau and GTE.
Gibbs previously owned Gibbs Design here. He also was a creative staffer at several Dallas companies, including Sibley/Peteet and Richards Sullivan Brock & Associates.
