With Avon Role Growing, Wieden Adds Senior Staff

NEW YORK -- Wieden + Kennedy has hired three senior executives last month in response to its expanding relationship with Avon, the agency said. The New York shop won Avon's estimated $5 million Becoming brand in November 2001 and was recently awarded creative duties on the New York client's new Mark cosmetics line. The latter brand launches in the third quarter of 2003 and will nearly double the agency's Avon business, a source said. It is targeted to older teenaged girls and young women.

Helena Gale, a photographer and former account director at Fallon in New York, rejoined Wieden as management supervisor, account director on Avon, a new position. Gale worked Coke and Nike for Wieden in Amsterdam from 1996-1999.

Eric Bruno, formerly of Ogilvy & Mather in New York, joined as senior account planner on ESPN and Jordan. His hire, a new position, will allow his supervisor Jennifer Coleman to take on greater Avon responsibilities. Paul Daligan was tapped from Mad Dogs & Englishmen to run Wieden's creative services department, also a new position. The agency now has 68 staffers.
