NEW YORK — Offering a glimmer of good news for the struggling media industry, AOL Time Warner Chief Executive Jerry Levin said advertising revenue at the company has started to stabilize.

An AOL spokeswoman confirmed that Mr. Levin told Reuters in Cannes, France, that advertising revenue had stopped falling and that the company was on track to meet its ambitious 2001 financial targets.

A decline in advertising spending in recent months has hurt media companies, including television networks, newspaper publishers and Web site operators.
