- FLORIDA
Phil Schwartz, president of Miami's Turkel Schwartz & Partners, appeared on CNN in a program segment devoted to Y2K computer glitches. Coincidentally, the agency did not have any Y2K problems.

Crosby Marketing Communications in Annapolis has created a new graphic identity for Network Management Resources, a Lanham-based company specializing in information technology.
Following a radio testimonial campaign from hometown shop The Reeves Agency, the Baltimore Police Department set new recruitment records, according to BPD spokesman Rob Weinhold.

- NORTH CAROLINA
Perstorp Flooring has chosen The Zimmerman Group to implement a direct mail campaign to launch a new business division. Both the client, a supplier of laminate flooring, and the agency are based in Durham.
Webb Patterson Communications and La Conexion Latina (The Latin Connection), both located in Durham, have formed a strategic partnership to provide Hispanic linguistic interpretation and translation services.

- SOUTH CAROLINA
H&W Creative/Advertising has been named agency of record for Hood Construction. Both companies are based in Columbia.
The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority has selected Rawle-Murdy Associates to create a marketing and communications program to build ridership. The Charleston agency has already launched a Web site, www.ridecarta.com, to promote commuting.
Six of Lesnik, Himmelsbach, Wilson, Hearl and Hirsch Advertising and Public Relations' Grand Strand golf course clients are featured in a new book called Golf School. The Myrtle Beach agency also won a bronze honor for its direct mail piece for Georgetown Memorial Hospital Healthpoint at the National Health Information Awards.
Newman, Saylor & Gregory won three creative awards from the South Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. The Columbia shop's work for Physicians Health Plan, Richtex Brick and the Columbia Metropolitan Airport was recognized.

- TENNESSEE
Buntin Public Relations, a division of The Buntin Group, has been hired by High Five Entertainment to manage its corporate and marketing communications. Both Buntin and High Five are based in Nashville.
Thompson & Company won four creative awards at ShowSouth. Two gold awards were given for a schedule poster for the Memphis Redbirds minor league baseball team and for the 1998 annual report for the Memphis-Shelby County Airport. The Memphis agency also garnered three out of five judges' awards for excellence in design and concept at the city's AdFed Design Conference.
Conway Marketing Communications has added a CD-ROM production studio at its Knoxville offices.
The Nashville Sounds, the AAA affiliate of Major League Baseball's Pittsburgh Pirates, has named Lewis Communications its advertising agency. Lewis will partner with another Nashville firm, the public relations office of McNeely, Pigott & Fox.

CrisisLink, formerly the Northern Virginia Hotline, has tapped Kershner & Company to develop a pro bono branding campaign, including a new corporate identity. Both client and agency are based in Alexandria.
