As last Saturday’s strike deadline approached, both Northwest Airlines and its pilots’ union were drawing up possible advertising plans.
If the pilots voted to strike over the weekend, the Minneapolis-based airline planned to target consumers with ads informing Northwest ticket holders of their options, said Craig Braasch, director of advertising and promotions for Northwest.
Should a strike occur and not be quickly settled, however, national advertising may be used to explain Northwest’s bargaining position to the public, Braasch said.
