ACDelco Spots Define 'Real Car Guys'

DETROIT ACDelco has unveiled a pair of TV spots as part of its "Real car guys know" campaign introduced in April.

The commercials from Interpublic Group's Campbell-Ewald in Warren, Mich., will air during motorsports programs and take a humorous look at what it takes to be a "real car guy."

One spot, "Real Cars Guys," shows ACDelco technicians who love their jobs a little too much. One sleeps on a creeper under his bed, while another opens a fresh can of coffee with an oil-can spout. A second spot, "Fantasy Camp," humorously depicts a training program for guys who have aspirations of becoming members of ACDelco's pit crew.

The campaign "works on many levels," said John Zamzow, ACDelco advertising manager. "It refers to the expertise of people who work at ACDelco, the do-it-yourself hobby mechanics and motorsports profesionals, as well as the technicians who install the parts. Real Car Guys are the authorities, so you can trust the brand that they trust."
