NEW YORK Bacardi has selected Omnicom Group's 180 to handle global creative duties on its Bombay Sapphire brand after a review, Bacardi said today.
The shop's Santa Monica, Calif., office will steer the account, though its Amsterdam, the Netherlands, office is expected to provide support. The other finalist was the incumbent, independent Sugartown in New York, a Bacardi representative confirmed.
Global major media spending on the brand exceeded $10 million last year, according to Nielsen Global AdView and Nielsen Monitor-Plus. The bulk of that outlay, roughly $7 million, was in the U.S.
Sugartown and 180 did not return calls, but the client rep said the former was in the process of handing off the business to the latter shop.
Other Bacardi roster shops include WPP Group's Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R in London (Bacardi) and Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi in London (42 Below).
