Social media marketing agency DEI Worldwide said it has hired Tyler Williamson as vp, strategy.
Williamson is a former Kraft brand manager who once gained some notoriety for hawking Philadelphia Cream Cheese aboard a flight while dressed in a white tuxedo.
Now, he will oversee new business development at DEI, as well as guide growth and marketing strategies for the firm's roster of clients, which include Kraft, P&G, Coca-Cola and NBC, among others.
Williamson said the decision stemmed from his previous working relationship with DEI and the capabilities social media provides. "While at Kraft, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to develop and implement social media campaigns so I could see first hand how efficient they were in comparison to traditional advertising mediums. Also, I loved the flexibility social media provided as I could address my marketing challenge to drive sales while at the same time gather key consumer and market intelligence in real time," he said.
He had worked at Kraft since 2004.
DEI president and CEO David Reis said Williamson's understanding of social media makes him a good pick. "Tyler's unique background says a lot about his hands-on approach to marketing, and we saw first-hand in 2008 how far he was willing to go to evangelize the Philadelphia Cream Cheese brand when he took to the skies clad in a white tuxedo to talk directly to consumers for the company's 'Breakfast from Heaven' promotion," said Reis, in a statement. "Tyler understands how social media fits into a brand's overall marketing strategy, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have him on board."
