DDB Los Angeles Awarded California Lottery Account

SAN FRANCISCO -- DDB in Los Angeles on Wednesday was awarded the $100 million California Lottery account, the agency confirmed.

The shop won the business in review, beating the incumbents, Grey in Los Angeles with MediaCom; as well as Butler, Shine & Stern in Sausalito, Calif.,which pitched with Carat in Santa Monica, Calif.; Foote, Cone & Belding in San Francisco; and TBWA\Chiat\Day in San Francisco.

"This is great news to begin the year with,'' said Rick Carpenter, agency president."They are smart people, and we look forward to working with them.''

Thirteen agencies responded to the initial RFP. A decision was initially expected on Dec. 21 but was pushed forward.

State officials could not be immediately reached.

The $100 million in spending will be spread out over four years. An initial campaign is expected this spring.
