MINNEAPOLIS Olson in Minneapolis has added Carlson Hotels’ Country Inns & Suites following a review.

Bolin Marketing, also in Minneapolis, had previously worked with the brand.

Country Inns & Suites’ measured media spending for the first 10 months of 2008 was slightly more than $4 million, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus. The client spent about $5 million through all of 2007 and more than $7 million in 2006, per Nielsen. Country Inns & Suites is a mid-tier chain that has about 465 locations worldwide.

Olson will now develop marketing efforts for the U.S. and Canada in print and broadcast media.

Steve Mogck, evp, COO for Country Inns & Suites, praised Olson’s “strong capability for out-of-the-box localized advertising and in-hotel integration” as motivating the chain to bring the independent shop on board.

Kevin DiLorenzo, agency president, said the chain’s “home-like interior and welcoming service [that] helps you feel like you’re home” would be emphasized in upcoming campaigns.
