Connected Cycle Bike Pedal (Price TBA)

There are plenty of Bluetooth-enabled bike accessories on the market that, while undeniably handy, all share the same flaw: They can't collect location data unless they're within range of a paired smartphone. Enter the yet-to-be-released Connected Cycle pedal (the prototype was unveiled at this year's Consumer Electronics Show), which has both GPS and GPRS built in and can access the Internet and store data in the cloud without any need for a cell signal. In addition to anti-theft features (the pedal sends out a push notification if the bike is moved and can't be removed without a special key), Connected Cycle doubles as a fitness tracker, recording speed, route, incline level and calories burned on each trip, with all that data logged in the Connected Cycle app.

Soma Pitcher $39

Say goodbye to those little black specs floating in your filtered water. The Soma Pitcher, a more eco-friendly (not to mention better-looking) version of the standard Brita, uses filters made from coconut-shell carbon and plant-based casing that won't leave any residue behind. And, a portion of every Soma sale goes to the Charity:Water foundation, which provides clean drinking water.

Somebody owes Kramer from Seinfeld a thank you. Perfect for cramped apartments and impromptu get-togethers, Bookniture is a 7-by-13-inch cardboard book that opens up to become multi-purpose furniture. Though Bookniture weighs only 3.3 pounds, it claims to support up to a ton thanks to its "advanced origami structure."
