Verizon Wireless inked a deal with teen pop-rock sensation The Jonas Brothers, as part of which the cell phone carrier will give away free tickets to customers to see the band play in concert.
The Jonas Brothers’ 41-city “Burning Up” tour, now underway, includes stops in Baltimore, Boston and New York, among others, with a guest appearance by Disney Channel’s Camp Rock star Demi Lovato.
“We are totally excited to kick off our ‘Burning Up’ tour with Verizon Wireless,” band member Kevin Jonas, said in a statement. “We look forward to connecting with our fans in cool, new ways through their mobile phones and, of course, in person at our shows very soon.”
The Verizon Wireless promotion automatically enters customers in a contest to win two free tickets to see The Jonas Brothers when they download the band’s song, ringtone or ringback content on their phones. Winners also will meet the stars in person and have exclusive backstage access.
Ed Ruth, director of digital music for Verizon, said the contest motivates customers to win “one of the toughest tickets in town.” The tickets are delivered to the winner’s cell phone and can be scanned directly on the phone via a digital barcode.
The Jonas Brothers also partnered with Burger King for an online concert promotion, which began last week. The site, BKJonasBrothers.com, provides ticketing and venue information, as well as behind-the-scene sneak peeks and sweepstakes prizes.
