Trone Atlanta Installs President

Trone Advertising has named Jackson Houk president of its new Atlanta office.

Trone Atlanta is essentially the re-creation of Pollak Levitt & Partners, which closed last November after account losses forced its parent, Multi-Media Holdings of Washington, D.C., to pull the plug [Adweek, Nov. 6, 2000.]

Trone of Greensboro, N.C., took over the agency, which counted Georgia Power, now in review, among its clients.

Houk, 36, joins Trone from The Southern Company, the utility’s parent, where he was manager of advertising for Georgia Power.

“Jackson has the background we were looking for,” said Jim Pollak, who retains his role as chief executive officer of the Atlanta operation.

Said Houk, “The people who are the core of this office are the people who led the branding when I wasthe client.”

Houk has switched hats frequently in his career, handling marketing chores for General Foods in Tarrytown, N.Y., and Frito-Lay in Plano, Texas. His agency credentials include WestWayne in Atlanta and Bates Southwest in Houston, where he handled Mississippi Power.

“The energy category is going to get really interesting,” said Houk. “From an advertising point of view, deregulation is going to make it great.”
