Team USA Set for Young Creatives Contest

NEW YORK Tracey Smith and Nic Aldana of McCann Erickson and Andrew Zolty of Agency.com will represent the United States at the Young Creatives Competition at the 53rd International Advertising Festival in Cannes in June.

A runner-up print team of Heather English and Beth Wetzel of Merkley + Partners was also named.

All of the creatives work at the New York offices of their respective agencies.

This is the second year that the team will include an interactive designer who will compete on the same assignment. They will have 24 hours to complete an ad or Web design.

The contestants were chosen following a Team USA competition in which 50 print and 11 interactive entries were rated by a panel of judges that included Alison Gragnano, Margeotes Fertitta Powell; Peter Rosch and Josh Hobbs, Lowe; Scott Kaplan, BBDO; Mikal Reich, Mad Injection; Colleen DeCourcy, Organic; Elena Fridman, Atmosphere BBDO; Kris Kiger, R/GA; Tom Ajello, Agency.com; Stephen Nesle, Tribal DDB; and Lars Bastholm, AKQA.

The Young Creatives Competition, which begins on June 17, is co-sponsored by AKQA and recruitment firm Greenberg Kirshenbaum.
