TBWA\India Fills CEO Slot

NEW YORK TBWA has hired Shiv Sethuraman, former managing director of Ogilvy & Mather in Paris, as CEO of TBWA\India, the Omnicom Group agency said.

Sethuraman, 43, will oversee 240 staffers at six offices of TBWA and its Tequila subsidiary. He’ll be based in Mumbai and start in June.

The new country leader succeeds chairman and CEO George John, who remains chairman for Indian operations. TBWA\India works for both local and global clients, including Apple, Adidas, Standard Chartered Bank, Afghan Wireless, Malayala Manorama, Beiersdorf, Michelin and Mars.

Sethuraman had been managing director of Ogilvy’s Paris office from 2005 until about a month ago. Before that, he was a global business director there, working on Nestle and Louis Vuitton. Earlier in his career, Sethuraman was a vp in the Mumbai office of Ogilvy, a WPP Group shop.

“He has done a wonderful job with Ogilvy both in India and in France and his unique experience will be a huge boost to our growth in the important Indian market,” said TBWA international president Keith Smith, to whom Sethuraman will report.
