State Farm said today it has signed an exclusive multiyear deal with Cal Ripken Jr. under which the baseball Hall of Famer will appear in marketing efforts and the insurance company will support the former player’s various youth baseball initiatives. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Ripken, who worked with the insurance firm during the 2008 All-Star Game to help promote the State Farm Home Run Derby, initially will support State Farm’s sponsorship of National Teen Driver Safety Week, Oct. 19-25, Ripken will appear in print ads and also participate in a satellite media tour to raise awareness among teens about safe driving. Ripken then will appear in subsequent marketing for the Bloomington, Ill.-based company.
State Farm will support youth initiatives through Ripken Baseball, which include the Cal Ripken World Series, camps, clinics and tournaments.
