Sedgwick Rd. Adds Creative Talent

LOS ANGELES Sedgwick Rd. has expanded its creative department with the hiring of art director Lauren Weinblatt and copywriter Joel Gryniewski, an agency representative said.

According to the rep, the addition of the new creative team will provide the Interpublic Group shop with “increased resources to concept and execute both traditional and nontraditional marketing ideas” for clients including Tower Records, Redhook Ales Brewery, the Washington State Department of Health Anti-Tobacco Campaign and the Seattle Storm, among others.

Weinblatt, 23, holds an undergraduate degree in advertising, graphic design and marketing from the University of Miami in Florida. She also earned a graduate degree in mass communication and advertising art direction from the Virginia Commonwealth University Adcenter in Richmond, Va.

Gryniewski, 26, received his undergraduate degree in journalism and advertising from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. He also attended the VCU Adcenter, where he earned a degree in mass communication, with a focus on copywriting.

Weinblatt and Gryniewski initially partnered while students at the Adcenter, the rep said. The pair won the school’s 2005 Art Directors Club Student Merit Award for their work on a nontraditional Muzak campaign. Prior to joining Sedgwick, they operated a two-person boutique, Blattski Worldwide in Richmond.

The team has already begun working on a number of assignments at the Seattle agency, the rep said. Weinblatt and Gryniewski report to Sedgwick Rd. president and ecd Jim Walker and creative director Zach Hitner.
