DALLAS–High-tech agency SicolaMartin has recruited an agency veteran out of Silicon Valley to build up its fledgling media department in Austin, Texas.
Julie Rieger, most recently with Foote, Cone & Belding’s Technology Group in San Francisco, was named to a newly created, senior-level media director’s post. She is charged with boosting the fast-growing shop’s planning and buying capabilities.
Rieger will oversee media for the traditional and interactive accounts assigned to SicolaMartin by clients like VTEL, 3M, IBM and Motorola. Her new media credentials were cited by SicolaMartin general manager Ed Conlin, to whom she will report.
‘I think what’s really going to be important to help SicolaMartin . . . is to integrate account service and creative (teams),’ which is still relatively unpracticed in the technology marketing arena, said Rieger.
The agency previously assigned work to a lone staffer–planner and buyer Romelle Risinger–in media services. Risinger will retain her duties under Rieger, who plans to hire another buyer during the department’s restructuring.
Rieger will also be heading media planning presentations in new business pitches, mirroring her role at FCB, where she worked on accounts such as Seagate and Autodesk.
Prior to her post as a media account director at FCB, Rieger served the company as a media strategist, introducing and developing Internet programs for Netcom, Excite, Digi and Diamond Multimedia.
She also worked in a media supervisor’s role at Winkler McManus in San Francisco.
Her new media position at SicolaMartin returns Rieger to Texas, where she had worked three years in the Dallas market. She served conventional media accounts at The Bloom Agency (now Publicis/Bloom) and Bozell Southwest, which is now Temerlin McClain.
