Looking for that automobile buff? Those gearheads searching for the ultimate ride? You might try looking in the direction of the fairer sex. That’s the idea behind the newstand debut of American Woman Motorscene, a magazine out to tap what it claims is a $65-billion market. Published out of Santa Monica, Calif., AW/M ‘is written and performed from a woman’s perspective,’ said publisher Courtney Caldwell. ‘Although women bought 79 million new cars and trucks last year and directly influenced 80% of all automotive sales, no publication has ever gone after this segment.’ Advertisers include BMW and Yamaha motorcycles, Ford and NGK spark plugs.
