Red Cross Takes Message to the Streets

NEW YORK The Red Cross tells Canadians it’s important to “know what to do” if someone needs help via this unusual outdoor campaign from Toronto’s Downtown Partners. Startling life-size decals of a collapsed man and woman have been placed at the bottom of high-traffic stairwells to demonstrate the importance of learning first aid and CPR. From a distance, the images, created in honor of the inaugural global World First Aid Day, may provide a jarring call to action. But close up, when the illusion fades, the effort may be just another momentary urban diversion to traipse over and ignore.
