Real Estate Firm Starts Review For Creative And Media Chores

One of the last clients to abandon Ally & Gargano before the New York shop collapsed is searching for an agency.
Real estate and financial services company Cushman & Wakefield in New York has put its account in review, a company representative said. The client has been creating ads in-house since late 1995, when A&G closed its doors following a disastrous series of account losses.
The official declined to reveal billings, which sources estimated at $1-2 million. The client spent about $1 million on advertising between January and October of last year, according to Competitive Media Reporting.
Sources also said the client is contacting about 15 shops and plans to narrow that number down to five finalists. The winner will be expected to take on both creative and media duties.
A&G’s last work for Cushman, a corporate image campaign that broke in Fortune, was a nostalgic effort featuring vintage photos of kids at a lemonade stand. It was tagged, “Improving your place in the world.” The client’s current ads feature client testimonials and retains A&G’s tagline.
Founded in 1917, Cushman & Wakefield is now New York’s largest commercial real estate developer. It had $400 million in sales last year, according to the company. Its main competitors include CB Commercial, Grubb & Ellis and Trammell Crow, according to Hoover’s Online.
The client has been involved with several major building projects, serving as manager of the American Express Tower and project consultant for the Citicorp Center, both in New York.

Overseas, the client has been involved in leasing arrangements for McGraw Hill in London and Mobil Oil in Vienna.
