NYT Digital Records Revenue Rise

NEW YORK The New York Times Digital Tuesday reported that second-quarter revenue for its online properties, which include NYTimes.com and Boston.com, rose nearly 22 percent to $21.6 million from $17.8 million in the same period a year earlier.

The New York-based online unit of The New York Times Company attributed the boost to higher advertising revenue resulting from increased volume. Q1 revenue was $19.6 million [IQ Daily Briefing, April 16].

Operating profit at The New York Times Digital was $4.3 million, up from $1.9 million in Q2 2002 and $3.2 million in the first quarter of this year.
