LONDON – Gold Greenlees Trott landed the $23-million Nationwide building society account, thwarting secret plans to merge the agency with GGK, which handles the rival National and Provincial account. Despite GGT’s statements that the merger talks never amounted to more than a deal to share the same European network, industry sources reckon a future top 10 agency was being hatched. Sources in Frankfurt said that Bo Seifert’s replacement as president and ceo of GGK International, Hans Schmid, has been negotiating with GGT. Now the network deal is expected to go ahead while the London shops will work independently.
