MVBMS Expands to West Coast

NEW YORK — Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG in New York is expanding its operations to the West coast, taking over sibling agency a.k.a. Euro RSCG in San Francisco, according to the company.

Michael Kantrow, managing director and CEO of a.k.a., will become the managing director of the newly branded MVBMS office, reporting to MVBMS CEO Ron Berger. Kevin McCarthy, partner and creative director of a.k.a., will continue in this role in the San Francisco office.

Three-year-old a.k.a. will retain its 30 staffers. The office claims about $115 million in billings from clients like The Picture People (a Hallmark company), Juniper Networks, Shaklee Corporation and Hornblower Cruises and Events. MVBMS in New York claims 600 staffers and $1.4 billion in billings from clients, such as GlaxoSmithKline, Intel and WorldCom.
