The newspaper also promoted Rich Cox to senior vice president/operations & product management; Pam Johnson to senior vice president/news & executive editor; Jon Held to senior vice president and CFO; Toni Antonellis to vice president/strategy and organizational development; Bob Kotwasinski to vice president/production; Leon Levitt to vice president/circulation; Julia Wallace to vice president/managing editor; and Fred Dal Broi to director of production operations.
Ken Kaess, president of DDB North America, was appointed to the board of directors of Honolulu-based Milici Valenti Ng Pack, an associate agency of DDB Worldwide.
Quillen & Co., Las Vegas, promoted Eric Whitaker to general manager.
Ozlem Arpaci was promoted to account executive at the Wernick Marketing Group, San Francisco. She had been an account assistant.
Holly Brodeur joined Lewis & Partners, San Francisco, as account executive.
Brian Kennedy was named Northwest advertising sales manager of Inc. magazine, based in San Francisco. He had been Inc.’s regional ad sales manager in New York.
Nancy Koch was named executive producer at Kowloon Wholesale Seafood Co., Los Angeles, where she has been freelancing since 1997. Kowloon is the agency for Jack in the Box restaurants.
Foote, Cone & Belding, Santa Ana, added Tj LaManna to its Taco Bell field marketing team.
David McFarland was named vice president, affiliate advertising sales, a new position at Fox Family Channels in Los Angeles. He previously held a similar position at Comedy Central.
Suki Yamashita was promoted to vice president of media planning in the marketing division of Paramount Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, Los Angeles. Yamashita, who had been executive director of media planning, began her career as a media assistant at Ogilvy & Mather, Los Angeles.
Jennifer Leavens Sloan joined Round 2 Communications, Los Angeles, as senior national buyer, specializing in national TV. She previously worked at Western International Media, also in Los Angeles.
Alper/Alper & Lopez, Woodland Hills, added Terry Minogue as manager, creative & production services. He had been with EMI-Capitol Music.
The Los Angeles Newspaper Group, Woodland Hills, added Jim Pollard as vice president of advertising and marketing. He replaces Bob Balzer, who was named publisher at one of the newspaper chain’s dailies. Pollard had been advertising sales director at the Houston Chronicle.
DiZinno-Thompson Integrated Marketing Solutions, San Diego, added Susan Ickes as business manager in its partnership marketing division. She had been a project manager with Motorola SPS in Phoenix. DiZinno-Thompson also promoted Jeanne Boland to account supervisor from account manager and media buyer/planner.
BGMHealth Communications, Venice, named Patricia Preston to the new position of director, account supervisor. She had been senior national account manager at Warner Lambert’s Parke-Davis division.
Steve Johnson has returned as president of healthcare ad agency FMJ Adcomm, Venice, replacing Jim Forsythe, who retired after selling the agency to Omnicom. Gaye Gwynn was named senior vice president, client services, at the agency. She had been an account group supervisor at Pacific Communications.
Joel Biales was named director of finance at Frankel Southern California in Irvine. He had been controller at 2CanMedia, Woodland Hills.
Townsend & O’Leary, Irvine, named Thomas Choi senior media planner. He had been a media planner at the Irvine office of Young & Rubicam.
MC Direct, Poway, added J. Hector Vargas as account executive. He had been a consultant to Sanwa Bank, Los Angeles.
Copacino, Seattle, added Lynn Brackpool as account manager on Sound Transit and the newly acquired Albertsons.com online grocery account. She had been director of marketing at the Experience Music Project. The agency also hired Tracy Jenkins as print production manager.
