Montague Staffs Up

Montague Staffs Up JWT

JWT New York chief creative officer Ty Montague made his first creative hires since he joined the agency last month. Peter Nicholson, 36, and Jeremy Postaer, 41, were both named ecd and partner because Montague says he wanted leaders who could “articulate a brand vision” and “speak client fluidly.” Nicholson, former chief creative officer at Publicis in New York, and Postaer, a former group cd at GSD&M in Austin, Texas, start working this week on Rolex, Diageo’s Smirnoff and Cadbury Adams accounts. Montague says he was im-pressed by Adidas print ads about runners that Nicholson helped create at Leagas Delaney and TV spots that celebrated the dedication of Yankee fans (pictured). Montague points to Postaer’s Land Rover GSD&M spot that used a 360-degree effect to capture the “odd combination of luxury and ruggedness.” He adds, “It felt like it came seamlessly from the product.”

Iverson as Pool Star

The launch spot for mcgarrybowen’s first Reebok campaign, breaking this Sunday, features 76ers star Allen Iverson in a pool hall sounding off about misconceptions about his image (“I’m not a thug”), football, his family, and this season’s ugly brawl between NBA teams. The spot, introducing the tag “I am what I am,” was shot in a 24-hour pool hall near his Philadelphia home. The idea for the location came from director Jake Scott, says ecd Warren Eakins, who worked with ecd Randy Van Kleeck on the ads. They wanted a place where he would be comfortable, but also interesting, explains Eakins.
