Major League Baseball said last Thursday that MLB and Sony will scale back a June 11-13 promotion for Sony’s Spider-Man 2. After considerable public outcry, MLB said the companies no longer intend to decorate bases in ballparks with spiderweb designs. Other elements of the marketing tie-in, such as ballpark ads, will remain. On Wednesday, Commercial Alert called for a boycott of Sony products and films.
