MithoffBurton Wraps El Paso Roundup

DALLAS MithoffBurton Partners was recently awarded advertising duties for four clients, the agency said.

The El Paso, Texas, shop, which specializes in Hispanic marketing, has picked up the general-market accounts of Western Refining Company, El Paso Community Foundation, Mesilla Valley Transportation and the University of Phoenix.

While there was a review for the University of Phoenix account, the other assignments were landed without competitions. Billings vary “in the six-figure range,” according to shop president and chief operating officer Peter Fraire.

Fraire said the shop’s most significant new acquisition is Western Refining. Based in El Paso, the company supplies gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt products to Chevron. The agency landed the account four weeks ago, along with El Paso Community Foundation and Mesilla Valley Transportation.

El Paso Community Foundation is a permanent endowment for the long-term benefit of Far West Texas, Southern New Mexico and Northern Chihuahua, Mexico. Based in El Paso, Mesilla Valley Transportation is one of the largest transportation providers in Western Texas and Southern New Mexico.

The shop won the account of the University of Phoenix, a private university system for working professionals, two months ago. The agency has been doing project work for the Phoenix client since 2000.

The wins follow a significant management shift. In April, MithoffBurton named Fraire president and chief operating officer. Prior to his appointment, Fraire was senior vice president and creative director. Former president Bill Burton is now chairman and chief executive officer, and Chana Azar Burton has been named executive vice president. Azar Burton was previously an account supervisor.
