MindShare’s Goldstein Advances to CEO North America

LOS ANGELES — Marc Goldstein, president of national broadcast and programming for MindShare North America, has been named ceo of the WPP Group media agency. Goldstein, 53, will report to Irwin Gotlieb, ceo of MindShare Worldwide. In his new post, Goldstein will lead MindShare’s Office of the President, which also includes Jean Pool, president of operations, and Ray Simko, president of strategic planning. The media agency also has created a North American Management group to oversee the agency’s regional operations and specialty units. Led by Goldstein, the group includes the Office of the President, cfo Joe Scangamor, director of human resources Tim Cecere, and the heads of MindShare regional offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Canada.

Goldstein, one of the nation’s top national broadcast specialists, joined MindShare in November of 2000 from Interpublic Group of Cos.’ GM Mediaworks, where he was evp/managing director. His long career includes top buying positions at Lintas and MindShare sibling Ogilvy & Mather and on the sales side at CBS. He worked with Gotlieb for six years when both were at Benton & Bowles.
