M&C’s McElwee Lands at Lowe

NEW YORK Lowe has hired Nick McElwee, a former global account director director on British Airways at M&C Saatchi, to run the New York shop’s Saab and Degree accounts.

McElwee takes the title managing director at Interpublic Group’s Lowe, where he starts on Wednesday, an agency representative said. He will report to office president Sal Taibi.

Previously, managing directors Michael Baer and Claire Capeci led General Motors’ Saab and Unilever’s Degree, respectively. With McElwee coming aboard, Baer is shifting to Smokey Bones and Gorton’s, and Capeci to GMC, the rep said.

McElwee, 36, spent nearly two years at M&C in London. In October, the shop lost its estimated $100 million British Airways account to Bartle Bogle Hegarty following a review.

Before M&C, McElwee was joint client services director at Havas’ Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper Partners in London, where he worked on Peugeot. He spent nearly five years at Euro RSCG, working alongside Mark Wnek, who is now chairman and chief creative officer at Lowe in New York.
