McCann Shuffles Senior Execs on Microsoft

NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s McCann-Erickson is rearranging some senior executives on its Microsoft account, the agency said.

Michael McLaren, who ran the worldwide business from McCann in San Francisco, is moving here this summer to become director of global accounts at McCann-Erickson WorldGroup, where he will oversee only Microsoft. (The WorldGroup is parent to McCann. Other WorldGroup units include Universal McCann, Momentum and MRM Partners.)

McLaren had been evp, director of client services for McCann San Francisco, whose other clients include, Applied Materials, AMD, Del Monte and Southcorp Wines North America.

In February, MRM Partners won global direct marketing duties for Microsoft, along with WPP Group’s Young & Rubicam Group. Billings on that business were estimated at $400-500 million globally. MRM’s portion of that was undisclosed.

Overall, McCann WorldGroup handles an estimated $800 million in Microsoft billings.

To succeed McLaren, McCann has promoted Harry Corsham from Microsoft brand director to worldwide account director on Microsoft. He will continue to be based in San Francisco.

Additionally, Casey Jones is joining McCann San Francisco as evp, global strategy director on Microsoft, effective sometime in April, the agency said. Jones was most recently at Grey Global Group’s Grey in San Francisco, where he was a co-managing partner.
