A newly finished pastoral mural of rolling fields and sunflowers covers all four walls of the main boardroom at Peter A. Mayer Advertising in New Orleans.
The painting by decorative French artist Josephe memorializes Molly Murphy Elliott, a 28-year-old account executive who was kidnapped and murdered last year.
Elliott is represented in the painting by a 5-inch-high angel, who sits atop a huge sunflower and blows a kiss to viewers.
The tranquility of the artwork, which depicts the Northshore farm where Elliott and her husband lived, has helped soften the hurt and anger that burdened co-workers felt after her death, according to Mayer public relations director Mark Romig.
Romig pointed out that since clients who meet in the boardroom frequently are intrigued by the mural and ask about Elliott, her memory lives on.
