Mahoney Joins Newport Creative as President

BOSTON Kelly Mahoney, a veteran of high-level agency and client posts who most recently served for two years as evp, managing director of relationship marketing services at Interpublic’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, has joined independent Newport Creative Communica-
tions as its president.

“I left Hill, Holliday for the opportunity to be president of an agency,” Mahoney said. “Hill, Holliday is a terrific company with very talented people, but I was excited about the opportunity to be president of a dynamic organization like Newport Creative … and build all aspects of its business.”

Mahoney, 46, takes the president’s title at the Duxbury, Mass.-based independent from Mike Walsh, who becomes chairman and continues as chief financial officer. The shop claims $42 million in annual billings and specializes in clients working in the nonprofit sector.

“She is a proven business developer and strategic marketer with the experience and credentials to take the organization to the next level,” said Walsh.

At Boston-based Hill, Holliday, Mahoney managed several business units, including direct marketing, database and analytical services, as well as the interactive division. Hill, Holliday has not named a successor.

She is a former chief marketing officer of the e-commerce division of retailer Staples; chief marketing officer of direct marketing operations of Havas-owned Arnold; and an svp at marketing agency Digitas.
