The ‘BMW CyberDrive’ kicks off June 23 with a 21-day digital exploration of cool sites and wonders of the world on the Internet.
Would-be test drivers register to take part in the excursion on BMW’s site (located at www.bmwusa.com). They receive a password to log on to the CyberDrive site and a ‘virtual vehicle,’ a BMW that can be customized to suit their preferences.
The itinerary begins with a visit to great roller-coasters of the world. On the second day, participants can design their own golf courses. The journey also includes a look at the Trans-Siberian railroad and a balloon tour of Napa Valley’s wine country.
The virtual tour is made possible by Apple Computer’s Internet servers and QuickTime Media Layer technology.
On-line drivers have a chance to win prizes, including a one-year lease of a BMW Z3 Roadster and an Apple Power Macintosh 6500 Creative Studio.
BMW agency Fallon McElligott in Minneapolis is creating a print campaign touting the CyberDrive program.
