Lang Ascends to President of Digitas

BOSTON Digitas on Wednesday named Laura Lang president of its national operations. Lang, who has served as president of the agency’s offices in New York and Chicago, reports to David Kenny, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer. Lang will now be based at Digitas’ Boston headquarters.

Michael Ward last held the title of Digitas president (he was also COO) until stepping down 18 months ago.

“Laura is an inspiring leader of leaders, both with our clients and with the Digitas team,” said Kenny. “As president, she will be able to help us accelerate growth in both new and existing clients, while also developing the necessary talent to serve those clients.”

Digitas is an independent, publicly traded interactive and direct marketing company. Clients include American Express, America Online, AT&T, Delta Air Lines and General Motors.

Joanne Zaiac has been named president of Digitas in New York. She had been an executive vice president at the shop. Torrence Boone, managing director of Digitas in Chicago, picks up Lang’s duties for that outpost. Both report to Lang, as does Rob Cosinuke, president of Digitas in Boston; Greg Johnson, global director of marketing services; Martin Reidy, president of Digitas in San Francisco; Jim Rossman, COO; and Rob Willms, global director of client services and strategy, who also leads the London office.

Digitas posted a solid first quarter, with net income more than doubling to $7.4 million, compared with $2.6 million for the same period in 2003. Digitas’ Q1 revenue shot up nearly 15 percent to nearly $90 million, compared with $79 million a year ago. The company added relationship marketing chores on Pfizer’s Viagra brand during the quarter.
