Kia Splits With AAR Amid Review

LOS ANGELES AAR, which had been juggling two high-profile car reviews, has been dismissed by Kia Motors America, the client has confirmed.

Kia is now looking to hire a new search consultancy, said client representative Kim Custer. The automaker launched a review for the creative portion of its $270 million account last month [Adweek Online, June 9].

“We used AAR for the first part of our review, basically to handle the RFI,” said Custer. “That gave us a good long list, and that is the extent to which we will be working with them.”

He added: “As we got into the process, it seemed like it would be better to use a second consultant, and one who wouldn’t be working on another car account.”

AAR in New York continues to oversee the review for Subaru’s $140 million ad account. AAR did not return calls.
