A Motorola Two-Way Radio Picks Loeffler
ATLANTA–Loeffler Ketchum Mountjoy has won a project assignment from Motorola Two-Way Radio. The other agency competing for the Schaumburg, Ill., client’s business, Sawyer Riley Compton in Atlanta, said it had been eliminated. A representative for search consultant Wanamaker Associates in Atlanta declined to confirm the winner and said sources’ claims that the account was worth $1-2 million were “overblown . . . exaggerated.” Loeffler did not return calls by press time.
A Laser Eye Centers Changes Agencies
ATLANTA–Williams Whittle Associates has been named advertising agency for Millennium Laser Eye Centers. The Tysons Corner, Va., client, which has locations in that city and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has estimated billings of $1 million. The Alexandria, Va., agency replaces incumbent Rainmaker, also of Tysons Corner, without a review. The company’s slogan, “You won’t believe your eyes,” will remain.
A Gish, Sherwood Opens Online Media Unit
ATLANTA–Gish, Sherwood & Friends has established MindReactor, an online media division. Jeff Hottle has been named director of the Nashville, Tenn., agency’s new venture, which will offer a full complement of services, ranging from Web site design and maintenance to CD-ROM and game creation capabilities. Design and technical support staff have also been hired. Art direction and copywriting will be created by GS&F staff.
A Audubon Institute Hears From Local Finalists
NEW ORLEANS–Only two of three finalists appeared to make presentations for the $1.5 million advertising account of Audubon Institute. Porter Novelli,Washington, D.C., the sole out-of-state contender pitching the institute, which oversees New Orleans’ zoo, aquarium and Imax theater, withdrew from the competition a few days before the scheduled presentations here. Local shops Montgomery Stire & Partners, teaming with Buisson Creative Services, and incumbent Peter A. Mayer Advertising remain. A winner is expected to be announced this week.
A Martin Breaks Print Series for SmartOnline
ATLANTA–The Martin Agency targets small business owners in a series of print ads for SmartOnline, breaking this week in Fortune, Entrepreneur and other national magazines. The Richmond, Va., shop uses short, double-edged phrases–“Veal Stall,” “Ant Farm” and “Death Row”–stamped on black-and-white photographs of claustrophobic office cubicles and crowded workplaces to promote the Research Triangle Park, N.C., company’s Web site.
A Palm Beach Ad Fed Forms Boner Scholarship
ATLANTA–The Advertising Federation of the Greater Palm Beaches has established a scholarship in memory of Gina Auditore Boner, co-founder of Palm Beach, Fla.’s The Boner Group, who died in September after a six-year battle with cancer. The scholarship will go to a graduating area high school student planning to study journalism, advertising or marketing.
