A Land Rover Contacts 9 for Creative Account
ATLANTA–Land Rover has sent requests for proposals to nine agencies concerning its $30 million creative account. Search consultant Richard Roth of Chappaqua, N.Y., said a short list will be compiled by mid-February, followed by agency visits. Three finalists will be heard before the March 24 decision date. The agencies are: Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Miami; WestWayne, Atlanta and Tampa, Fla.; GSD&M, Austin, Texas; The Richards Group, Dallas; Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston; and New York shops Gotham, Hampel/Stefanides, Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners and M&C Saatchi. New York incumbent Grace & Rothschild will not defend.
A BBDO South Breaks First Simmons Work
ATLANTA–BBDO South has released its first work introducing Simmons’ redesigned Beautyrest mattress. The campaign’s initial print ad, headlined “For the first time in decades, the mattress industry won’t have to talk about the same old thing,” appears in today’s edition of Furniture Today. Consumer television ads by the the Atlanta agency will break in the spring.
A Nationwide’s ‘Bama-Georgia Co-op Thinks Big
ATLANTA–Big Communications has been named agency for Nationwide’s Alabama-Georgia co-op of insurance agents. The Birmingham, Ala., shop, which topped three other agencies for the $400,000 account, will handle all advertising and media services for the Columbus, Ohio-based insurance company.
A D.C. Anti-Tobacco Account Remains in Town
ATLANTA–The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids has awarded its $3 million account to Greer, Margolis, Mitchell, Burns & Associates after hearing from five shops. Incumbent Smith & Haroff, Alexandria, Va., defended. The client and agency are both located in Washington, D.C.
A Renaissance Cruises Taps Harris Drury Cohen
ATLANTA–Harris Drury Cohen has been hired for a seven-figure creative and media project by Renaissance Cruises, agency principal Stan Harris confirmed. Both parties are headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Cruise industry sources, who believe HDC is working on the client’s first major trade campaign, noted Renaissance has a reputation for strained relations with travel agencies. HDC, which resigned Celebrity Cruises last year, would not otherwise comment.
A White Lily Foods Selects Richards Group
DALLAS–White Lily Foods and Pioneer Flour Mills has named The Richards Group here agency of record for its $1.5 million account. The San Antonio client split with incumbent Henderson Advertising of Greenville, S.C., last December.
A 360 Acquires Shoestring Studio in Atlanta
ATLANTA–Marketing communications company 360 has acquired Shoestring Studio, formerly Trousdell Design. The father-and-son team of Don and Tod Trousdell will continue to direct creative work at the Atlanta agency, as executive creative director and director, respectively. Terms were not disclosed
