Match Makes Chupa Chups USA List
ATLANTA–One more agency has emerged as a contender for the $10 million Chupa Chups USA business. Sources last week revealed that Match in Atlanta will compete against Fallon McElligott, Minneapolis; Ground Zero, Santa Monica, Calif., GSD&M, Austin, Texas; The Richards Group, Dallas; and New York’s TBWA/Chiat/Day and Weiss, Whitten, Stagliano. The account is currently at Lois/EJL in Chicago. In addition to its Chupa Chups lollipops, the Atlanta-based company also sells Pop Rocks and Smint breath mints.

Martin Is a Finalist in Kellogg Search
CHICAGO–Kellogg narrowed the list of outside shops vying to join its roster to The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; and Ammirati Puris Lintas and BBDO, both New York. New York’s Lowe & Partners/SMS and Grey Advertising were cut; Young & Rubicam, New York, had withdrawn earlier. Kellogg said it may add one of the three finalists to its roster of shops handling its U.S. cereals. Leo Burnett and Burrell in Chicago and J. Walter Thompson in New York currently are
Kellogg’s agencies.

Bates in Miami Lands Bristol Business
ATLANTA–Bates USA South in Miami has been awarded the corporate branding account of Bristol West Insurance, a regional car insurer in Hollywood, Fla. The company, which operates in California, Florida, Texas and Nevada, has plans for expansion into Arizona, Georgia, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania. The account is expected to bill approximately $2 million. “Our growth requires partners who genuinely understand our business,” said Les Schlesinger, management partner for the client. “And Bates South demonstrated that better than anyone.”

Atlanta’s iXL Adds 2 Chicago Properties
CHICAGO–Interactive agency network iXL is acquiring new media shop Two Way Communications here and Ionix Development Corp. in Oak Brook, Ill. Atlanta-based iXL will combine the two companies as iXL-Chicago.
Feuerman Becomes Vice Chairman at Martin
ATLANTA–The Martin Agency has promoted executive vice president and group creative director Kerry Feuerman to vice chairman. He joined the Richmond, Va., shop in 1992 and was group creative director on the Mercedes-Benz business. In 1997, Martin resigned that account to pursue Saab, which it won later that year. Feuerman is global creative director for Saab’s advertising worldwide.

Lifetime Achievement Honor for Smith
ATLANTA–Sid Smith, chairman of the board of WestWayne, Atlanta and Tampa, Fla., will receive the Atlanta Ad Club’s Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his commitment to excellence in all aspects of the ad industry. Smith joined the agency, then called Tucker Wayne & Co., in 1969. He will be honored at the club’s Silver Medal dinner in November.
