– Moulter to Exit Woolf for Internet Job
BOSTON–In an unexpected move, Larry Moulter resigned as chief executive officer of Woolf Associates to join an Internet company in a marketing position. Moulter, along with hockey legend Bobby Orr and Arnold Communications chairman Ed Eskandarian, purchased the Woolf agency from the estate of its founder, Bob Woolf, in 1996. Eskandarian, who is the majority shareholder, said last week he would weigh candidates internally before determining whether an outside search would be needed to find a successor to Moulter. According to sources, among the candidates being considered internally is Paul Tedeschi, the chief marketing officer, who joined Woolf after selling his youth-oriented marketing agency Collegiate Advantage to Student Advantage last year. Eskandarian would not comment. He said about two-thirds of Woolf’s income is derived from marketing and events packages, although it employs agents who represent various athletes and entertainers. Moulter will become chief marketing officer at Mirror Image Internet in Woburn, Mass.
– Manasian Promoted to EVP at Hill, Holliday
BOSTON–Jean Manasian was promoted to executive vice president and managing director of the technology practice at Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston. Manasian, who led the shop’s apparent failed pitch for Lycos (see page 5), oversees a group of accounts that includes Adero, Broadwing, Bowstreet, Storage Networks–all won in the last 12 months–as well as long-time clients Advanced Micro Devices and Great Plains Software. “She’s sensational,” said Hill, Holliday CEO Jack Connors. “So she’s lost one of the last four or five pitches, it would be pretty shallow for anyone to think I would hold her back because of that.” Manasian joined Hill, Holliday from Digital Equipment Corp., where she was worldwide ad director.
– Epsilon Tapped for DB Work by MGM
BOSTON–Epsilon has been hired by the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino for Internet and database marketing efforts. The Las Vegas hotel, a wholly owned subsidiary of MGM Grand Hotel Inc., features more than 5,000 guest rooms, a gaming complex and entertainment venues as well as conference and recreational centers.
– Modernista! Adds Account Executive
BOSTON–The agency that last week landed a second creative assignment has recruited Chris Jensen, formerly of Arnold Communications in Boston, to its growing staff. Jensen becomes an account manager for Modernista!’s two accounts, The Travel Channel and MTV Networks, according to agency principal Lance Jensen.

ATLANTA– has launched its first national advertising campaign to introduce the brand and broaden its market position as an Internet service provider serving customers and businesses in smaller metropolitan markets and rural communities. The campaign using veteran actor Hal Holbrook as voice talent, was created and produced by Arnold Communications’ McLean,Virginia office.
